October 24, 2017 marked 100 years of the October Revolution. To mark the occasion, the film "Comrade, Where Are You Today? - The Dream of Revolution" by Finnish director Kirsi Marie Liimatainen was shown at Moviemento Linz. We spoke to her in an interview about the content of the aforementioned film, how relevant the ideas of Marxism and socialism are today and the role of feminism and equal rights

Opportunities and problems of sensitive, non-discriminatory language

With an intersectional perspective, there will be input from the fields of queer linguistics, feminist language, adult education and German as a foreign and second language. The experts will reflect on the necessity, the possibilities, but also the problems of inclusive, sensitive and appreciative language and provide information on the current situation and trends in their field. The audience will then be invited to join in the discussion.

Finding a way of dealing with a language, appropriating one's own language, changing it in such a way that a language space is created that connects and includes. Dealing with language sensitively in order to use it specifically for queer-feminist resistance. Finding a common language of interaction, practicing a colloquial language.

In a small mountain village in North Africa, it is a tradition for the women to fetch water from a remote spring to the village. As there are always falls and accidents, Leila comes up with a plan: a love strike to put pressure on the men to fetch the water from now on - no water, no sex.

Afterwards, we look forward to talking about the movie in a relaxed atmosphere!

Queer and LGBT communities are experiencing an alarming rise in the number of violent hate crime (The Independent for example is reporting that the number of attacks on the community in the United Kingdom has increased by nearly 80 per cent in the past four years).
In August, we joined the protest against violence against Queer and LGBT community near to the park in Athens, Greece, where the LGBT couple was attacked.

We met Alexandra Tsiorou, a trans woman and an activist, who explained us the background of this action, or better self-organized pride. She herself is fighting against ableism, trans and homophobic violence on a daily level.

We are contacting you to inform you that the extremely precarious situation of FIFTITU% - Networking Agency for Women* in Art and Culture has now grown into an existential problem.

FIFTITU% has been working for almost two decades to improve the conditions for women* in the arts and culture sector and is the only platform of its kind, not only in Upper Austria, but nationwide.

Our activities include cultural and women's political work, national and international networking in this field and various artistic projects in and on this topic, as well as concrete advice and support for artists and cultural workers. This is also perceived and utilized as an important service.

Hailing from Argentina, Chocolate Remix is an Aesbian reggaeton performer, or reggaetonera. In March 2017, she released her first album Satira (Satire), which she has been performing intensively on tour throughout Europe ever since. Choco also visited Linz at the beginning of July as part of this tour. We invited her to talk about her music, her new album, her stage performances and her divas for our Divasplitter column.
