OPEN CALL entangled homes
competition & exhibition Submission deadline: July 18, 2024
We invite artists to apply with queer-feminist art for the exhibition entangled homes .
entangled homes examines how notions of home, identity, family and home are intertwined with power relations such as gender, sexuality, class and colonialism. The exhibition explores networks and intersections of physical and digital spaces and seeks artistic works that develop alternative narratives. The selected works will be shown by FIFTITU% from September 5 to 13, 2024 at the WHA Gallery in Linz as part of the Ars Electronica Festival.
About the exhibition
entangled homes is a hybrid and decentralized format that interweaves analogue and virtual spaces. The exhibition refers to the multi-layered connections and interactions between concepts of home, identity, family or home with power relations and notions of belonging. Artists are invited to participate in this discourse using various media such as comics, GIFs or memes.
What narratives and counter-narratives exist around themes such as home or homelessness, uprooting and being at home? How are the concepts of 'home' and 'home' historically intertwined with colonial violence and displacement? How can queer perspectives renegotiate intimacy, care and kinship?
Artists are invited to apply for the exhibition!
We are looking for works in the form of comics, GIFs, memes & reels, artistic data visualizations and interfaces to media or net art.
