Ausstellung: Wilderness Gardens by Iyo Bisseck, Salon FIFTITU%

Wed 4. September 2024, 13h - Sun 8. September 2024, 19h

Wilderness Gardens is an immersive gaming experience that explores spatial reflection, access and the impact of technology on the control of resources. It critically questions the colonial continuum and norms of civilization. Players navigate through environments and encounter narratives from other artists that provide insights into diasporic experiences and identities. It encourages reflection on mobility, belonging and resistance, where personal and collective stories intersect. From September 4 to 8, 2024 at Salon FIFTITU% as part of the Ars Electronica Festival.

Festival & Exhibition Opening:
  • September 5, 5 pm
  • Salon FIFTITU%, Domgasse 14, Linz
Biography:

Iyo Bisseck is a multidisciplinary artist, interaction designer and programmer. She was born in 1994, lives in Paris and works in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. Her artistic practice combines immersive digital environments, sculptural installations, animated images and video games. Her work is driven by critical reflections on digital tools, highlighting their roots in a capitalist and colonial logic.

After experiences in scientific laboratories, where she explored the limits of artificial intelligence through the creation of virtual agents, Iyo Bisseck decided to anchor herself in spaces of collective organization such as Dreaming Beyond AI and Matri-Archi(tecture). Her work as a web designer contributes to the creation of online spaces for cultural, associative and/or political projects.

In her artistic practice, Iyo Bisseck explores in a multidisciplinary way the construction, use and perception of archives in a contemporary context. Highlighting the materiality of the digital and the continuities of colonial systems hidden within it, she uses her artistic creations to support decolonial and queer struggles and to create spaces of care and community connection. She is actively engaged in collecting, preserving and sharing archives and seeks to transcribe diasporic realities through fiction and interactive media.
