M.C.Monster*: Feeding the Witches

An interactive lecture with Dr. Barbara Eder

From 21. from March 21 to 28, the NEXT COMIC Festival in Linz will be all about comics and we at M.C.MONSTER* also want to take a look at this medium at our next event. We are also starting to explore another topic: the witch.

Because of their economic self-sufficiency, which enabled them to survive in the commons, women who did not submit to patriarchal structures were persecuted as witches from the 15th century onwards. In the six-part comic series "Hex Wives" (2019), drawn by Mirka Andolfo, they first have to rediscover this "magic power". Isadora, Nadiyah, Rebeckah and Jun are caught in the 'household death trap' - until they realize their origins and rise up. They were reborn as women, but remain immortal as witches. The Tupperware party of American suburban hell ends in revolt and imprecation - in the midst of the Purple Haze of sweet revenge.
