September 28 is International Safe Abortion Day. Safe Abortion Day was first celebrated in 1990 by Campaña 28 Septiembre as a day of action for the decriminalisation of abortion in Latin America and the Caribbean.
In 2011, the Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR) declared 28 September an international day.
