AVANT DRAG! at the Ebensee cinema
QUEERTACTICS Nachspiele in cooperation with Salzkammerqueer and FIFTITU% brings two selected queer_feminist film programmes that celebrate activism, diversity and trans-feminist film art to Kino Ebensee. This film programme presents a different kind of city tour:
AVANT DRAG! Radical Performers Re-Imagine Athens portrays ten drag performers from different genders, sexualities and backgrounds who deconstruct gender, sexuality, nationalism, religion and ethnicity in their radical, beguilingly surreal performances in public spaces. Their resistance to police violence, transphobia and racism, far removed from the glittering mainstream, is both a glamorous drag extravaganza and political action. AVANT-DRAG! is a deeply enjoyable collage documenting a colourful, activist and tender community of care. Weighty questions about drag as art and as political protest, the appropriation of queer representations in the mainstream and, not least, whether drag should be paid for are discussed with appropriate passion - and style - at the dinner party. No god, no state, no patriarchy
