Our laughter is your (nightmare) dream: humour as a transformative force

In Austria, people without citizenship are not allowed to vote, even though they live and participate here. This lack of participation is also reflected in the cultural and media landscape, in which painful and discriminatory narratives about migrants prevail.

The project "Our laughter is your (nightmare) dream" focuses on humour as a creative method to influence the political atmosphere within the mainstream discourse and promote intercultural exchange.

The project is aimed at migrants* and refugees FLINTA* (women*, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender people) and girls who have experienced racism or xenophobia and sexism in Austria or who make use of maiz services such as counselling, youth or educational programmes. The workshop series is especially designed for people who work, have worked or want to work in the cultural sector.
