CINÉMA AFRICAIN film festival!
For the second time, CINÉMA AFRICAIN! is bringing the creative diversity of Africa and its diaspora to Linz. This year's edition focuses on questions of identity, colonial history, feminism and the relationship between people, land, nature and spirituality. A diverse supporting programme also invites dialogue and exchange - a highlight this year is the book presentation Cinéma Africain: Archiving, Resistance and Freedom.

Language:
The film programme presents works in 15 languages, underlining the rich linguistic diversity of the African continent and its diaspora. Nevertheless, English was chosen as the main language for the festival. This choice does not reflect a particular culture or community - it is not "the language anyone has chosen". Rather, we see English as a pragmatic tool to create a common ground for communication and understanding between local and international audiences. All films are subtitled in English to make them accessible and inclusive to a wider audience.
