Feminist strike

We are on strike because the system is built on our labour and acts as if this is self-evident.  On 9 March in Linz as part of the Global Women's* General Strike by ENOUGH!

In the cultural sector, women* earn 37 per cent less than men*. The higher the budget of an institution, the less likely it is to be headed by a woman*. This and much more is documented in the first nationwide gender report for art and culture, published in 2024.
Art and culture are not neutral spaces. They are places where things are negotiated: which bodies are visible, which stories are told - and whose work is considered worthy of support. As long as precarisation remains the normal model, intersectional perspectives are lacking in cultural policy decision-making processes and fair pay is the exception, we will go on strike.

ABOUT WOMEN* GENERAL STRIKE ENOUGH!
We are extending International Women's Day, Sunday (!) 8 March 2026, to include strike day, Monday, 9 March 2026. These threatening times need a sharper instrument than petitions and patient demonstrations. That is why we are laying down paid and unpaid work and calling for a variety of forms of protest and action. Each according to their possibilities.
