Feminist Perspectives in the Open Air

In collaboration with the Kunsthalle Linz, the FIFTITU% association has organised a contemporary art exhibition for the Urfahranermarkt-Donaulände.
It can be visited at any time, provided the required social distancing from other people is observed.

Numerous works by feminist-minded artists from Linz are on display until July 2020:

Helga SchagerAdriana Torres TopagaUrsula M. LückeMaia BenashviliBetty WimmerSilke MüllerVioletta Wakolbinger2EMOTIONAL  • Rebekka Hochreiterin

The group exhibition invites visitors to engage with self-empowerment, power structures, intersectionality and female pleasure.&
This is particularly relevant right now, emphasises the managing director of FIFTITU%, Oona Valarie Serbest: “This time of the pandemic highlights how women* support society. The consequences of the crisis are a disaster for feminism and an exacerbation of inequality. Through the medium of art, a discourse can be initiated here – one that we must now pursue more vehemently than ever”.

Contemporary feminist art as a mouthpiece
The artists have engaged with the female body as the primary medium of self-determination in the context of gender-specific evaluation, devaluation, discrimination and abuse of power. The result is a remarkable art exhibition showcasing diverse approaches and forms of expression, ranging from sculpture to conceptual art, photography and illustration.

The exhibition was curated by the artists Rebekka Hochreiter, Romina Dodic (curators at Kunsthalle Linz) and Oona Valarie Serbest (director of FIFTITU%).

Since 2015, the Kunsthalle Linz has been situated near the Fräulein Florentine salon ship on the Urfahranermarkt-Donaulände, thus enriching Linz with yet another significant exhibition venue on the Danube, alongside the Lentos Kunstmuseum Linz and the Ars Electronica Center. With the current exhibition, FIFTITU%, together with the Kunsthalle, is also opening a new space for contemporary feminist discourse.
