AVANT DRAG! Radical Performers Re-Imagine Athens

AVANT-DRAG! is a deeply enjoyable collage that documents a dazzling, activist and tender community of care.
A different kind of city tour: AVANT-DRAG! portrays ten drag performers from different genders, sexualities and backgrounds who deconstruct gender, sexuality, nationalism, religion and ethnicity in their radical, beguilingly surreal performances in public spaces. Their resistance to police violence, transphobia and racism far removed from the glittering mainstream is both a glamorous drag extravaganza and political action.
Important questions about drag as art and as political protest, the appropriation of queer representations in the mainstream and, last but not least, whether drag should be paid, are discussed passionately - and stylishly - at the dinner party. No god, no state, no patriarchy!
