52 Radiominuten: Mental Load - Unsichtbare Arbeit und faire Aufteilung

Mon 28. April 2025, 19h - 20h | 1Std.

Women

Mental Load is not just about managing the household or organizing appointments. It's about the invisible, cognitive and emotional work that is done in the background every day and that is predominantly carried by women*.

The psychotherapist, family counselor and social pedagogue Barbara Schrammel has been working intensively on this topic for many years. At the end of March, she gave a lecture on mental load on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Linz-based VSG Frauenberatung WOMAN in the Old Town Hall.
Since 2010, she has been part of the Viennese organization Frauen* beraten Frauen*. Her focus areas include mental load and equal parenting, contact rights and custody conflicts, empowerment of women*, couples counseling and therapy as well as educational work in the form of workshops and lectures. Frauen* beraten Frauen* offers psychosocial and legal support for women* in all areas of life.

In today's program, we listen to excerpts from the lecture and a subsequent interview with the expert. The focus is on the questions of why mental load extends far beyond the private sphere, how a fair division in couple relationships can succeed and what structural and political changes are necessary to reduce mental load in the long term.
