Together in favour of additional income opportunities for unemployment benefit! - Toolbox!

It is still possible to earn a small amount in addition to unemployment benefit or unemployment assistance. This is to end from 2026. A legal correction is still possible: the Social Affairs Committee in Parliament will meet on 3 December 2025, with the National Council and Federal Council meeting to follow in December.

What can be done to maintain the possibility of additional earnings at the AMS as before?

Are you also of the opinion that unemployment benefit must be available as a safeguard despite marginal additional earnings? Would you like to make a contribution? We have prepared two options and compiled information on the current situation. You are not from the field of art and culture, but find the topic important for your area: contribute your perspective! You like to protest differently: We look forward to it!

  1. Participate in the social media campaign of the Austrian Cultural Council #ZuverdienstAMS
  2. Mails to the government and the National Council. Those responsible are always happy to receive mail.

Information:

(1) Social media campaign #ZuverdienstAMS:

We as the Austrian Cultural Council post statements from all areas of art and culture. We would be delighted if you would also participate in large numbers and create and post your own posts and tag those responsible. For resource reasons, the Austrian Cultural Council is currently focussing on Instagram. However, this is not a requirement: post on social media of your choice, fill websites and also podcasts. We have a template for typo images here:

(2) Direct mails to those responsible:

A majority in the National Council decides on laws, which are usually the MPs of the governing parties. Accordingly, the opinion of the party leaders of the governing parties is also central. The Unemployment Insurance Act is the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Affairs under Minister Korinna Schumann. The BMWKMS under Vice-Chancellor and Minister Andreas Babler is responsible for art and culture. Share your arguments with those responsible, send personal descriptions of how you will be affected by this change in the law. You can find email addresses here:
