1. 15 maps on the topics of www.genderatlas.at are available at work, education, mobility, politics and society. These digital, interactive maps bring facets of female reality in Austria to life. For example, you can see how many female mayors there are in Austria right now: 141 municipalities in Austria are currently led by women, which corresponds to 5.9 percent of all municipalities.

2. Irish women have been tweeting their monthly cycle in detail since the beginning of November. The tweets are addressed to Prime Minister Enda Kenny and are a protest against the restrictive abortion laws in Ireland. The complete ban on abortion was last relaxed in Ireland in 2013 solely in cases where the life of the mother is threatened by the pregnancy. In May, 62.1 percent of voters in the referendum voted in favor of allowing lesbians and gays to marry. In the country, which was previously considered to be strictly Catholic, this positive result has once again prompted voices to rethink abortion.

Comedian Grainne Maguire tweeted: "Women in Ireland! Your vagina is their business!"

3. Amal al-Kubaisi is the first female speaker of parliament of the Arab Emirates. She has been in parliament since 2006. In October, more than 220,000 selected citizens helped elect the Federation Council. It was only the third time that members of parliament were elected in the oil-rich Gulf Emirates. The voters decided on 20 seats, the remaining 20 parliamentarians were appointed by the emirs. Nine of the members of parliament are women. One was elected, the others appointed by the rulers.
