Irma's Time by Alenka Maly and Roland Freinschlag, Austria 2007, 33 min

The film accompanies Irma Trksak on a journey through Upper Austria as a contemporary witness, documenting the constant, tireless recollection of agonizing, almost unspeakable horrors in the service of enlightenment. Between rural classrooms and hotel rooms, Irma Trksak opens doors to insight into the Nazi past, leading the audience to the Siemens camp and the Uckermark extermination camp. It is Irma's respectful energy and insistence that becomes the epitome of lifelong political resistance.

Irma Trksak was born in Vienna in 1917. She was arrested by the Gestapo in 1941 for resisting in a group of Viennese Czechoslovakians and deported to the Ravensbrück concentration camp for women. For decades, she has been working as the secretary of the Ravensbrück camp community and as a contemporary witness, passing on her political life experience to the
next generations.

Following the film, a discussion with Irma Trksak, Alenka Maly (filmmaker) and Maria Buchmayr (spokesperson for the Green Women of Upper Austria)
